He is survived by: his siblings, John "Johnny", Frank "Mo", Leonard, Richard "Rich", Theodore "Teddy", Daniel "Dan", Francis "Fran", Rosemary and Anna; his daughter Catherine McElwain (Anna Byrd) of Chester, WV; his daughter-in-law Linda Felkey; his grandchildren, Shannon (Justin), Marshall Clark (Meina), Gary Allen McElwain (Melissa), Amanda Felkey (Phillip Schmitt) and Gregory McElwain (Mary); and his sister-in-law Goldie Felkey of Midland. He is also survived by eleven great grandchildren.
