He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence S. Sr. Shearer and Esther M. Shearer (Brown); and his wife Delores Shearer (Sweger). He is survived by: his close friend Elsie Linn; his children, Beth Butcher (Shearer) of New Bloomfield, Jeffrey Shearer of New Bloomfield, Scott Shearer of Duncannon and Toni Flick (Shearer) of Shermans Dale; his grandchildren, Michael Butcher, Samantha Weller, Joshua Shearer, Jennifer Shearer, Lindsey Shearer, Kyle Barrick and Kimberly Snare; and his great grandchildren, Mason, Hudson Butcher, Ayden, Wyatt, Blake Weller, Braxton Shearer, Kolson Poet and Kalianna Snare. He is also survived by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
