He is survived by: his spouse Marion Spencer (Lucko); his parent Caroline Spencer (Dove); and his children, Susan Walker, Caroline Marvill, Jeffrey Spencer, John Jr. and Christopher Spencer. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
