He was predeceased by: his wife Louise P. Mele (Sniscak); his parents, Louis Mele and Lillian Mele (Santore); his stepdaughter LouAnn Gill; and his siblings, Michael, Angelo, Louis Jr., Lucy Mele and Anna Mae Mele.

He is survived by: his sister Kathryn Mele of Nesquehoning; and his granddaughters, Nicole Gill and Samantha Lahue (Alexander).
