He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Umstead, Sr. and Beulah Umstead (Schmeltzle); his wife Ruth E. Umstead (Dech); and his siblings, Charles, Jr., Urial Schmeltzle and Shirley M. Truman.
He is survived by: his children, Brian J. Umstead (Valerie) of Whitehall, PA, Tammy (Richard Capra) of Northampton, PA and Wanda S. (David Radzelovage) of Bethlehem, PA; and his brother Richard Umstead (Kathryn) of Allentown, PA. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandsons.
