He was predeceased by: his parents, Ellen F. Hertzler (Allen) and William Hertzler; his brothers, David, Ron, Rick and Denny; and his grandson David Hertzler Jr. Bill.

He is survived by: his wife Eleanor Hertzler (Koltz); his sister Nancy L. Lober; his sons, David Hertzler (Cassie), Chuck Hertzler (Denise) and William "Bill" Hertzler (Joan); his grandchildren, William "Bill" Hertzler (Taryn), Elizabeth Hertzler, Melissa Hertzler and Dan Hertzler (Autumn); and his great grandchild Harleigh Hertzler.
