He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Semple and Dorothy Semple (Bair); and his brother James Semple. He is survived by: his wife Mary J. Semple (Christoff); his son James "Chico" Chaney (Brandy); his grandchildren, Justin, Allyssa and Jerrick Chaney; and his siblings, Sandra Brumbaugh (Ronald), Ronald Semple (Sharon), Ken Semple (Lonya), Terry Semple (Carol), Tim Semple (Dorothy), Tom Semple, Gloria Madilia, Penny Myers (Chris) and Pat Banks (Robert). He is also survived by his family and friends—especially his grandchildren.
