He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse C. Smillie and Nora M. Smillie. He is survived by: his wife Joan I. Smillie; his children, Jesse C. Smillie (Dawn) and Amanda M. Hardik (Andrew); his siblings, Donald Smillie and Tammie Smillie; his grandchildren, Lilly Hardik, George Smillie, Drew Hardik and Jacob Smillie; his siblings-in-law, George W. Tompkins, Jr., Patrick W. Tompkins, Betsy Reynolds and Bonnie Diehl; and his aunt Edith Albright. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
