He was predeceased by: his parents, James Schmitz and Minnie Ohm Schmitz; his wife Margaret; and his siblings, Jim, Dick Schmitz, Ruth Ann, Connie Schmitz To and Ed's.
He is survived by: his children, Donald Schmitz (Sharon) of Butler, Patti Murphy (Larry) of Mt. Pleasant, Edwin Schmitz of Mt. Pleasant, Patty Domenico of Mt. Pleasant and Connie Gentry (Shawn) of Mt. Pleasant; and his grandchildren, Rachel, Nicole Schmitz, Natasha and Jack Gentry.
