He was predeceased by: his brother Jon Hoey. He is survived by: his spouse Theona "Toni" Hoey; his children, Cheryl Wilson and Steve Hoey (Renee); and his sister-in-law Gale Hoey. He is also survived by three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
