He was predeceased by: his wife Grace Anna Hershey; his parents, Martin L. Gish and Anna Fridy Gish; his siblings, Lois Martin, Millie Groff, Mervin and Eugene; and his son Timothy.

He is survived by: his children, Dr. Martin Gish (Robin), Lynn Walker (Jon), Dr. Joel Gish (Ellanna), Dr. Jon Gish (Stephanie) and Michael Gish (Teresa); and his brother Roy (Jeannine). He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
