He was predeceased by: his parent Arnold R.; his son Douglas Purnell; and his son-in-law Kenneth Swope. He is survived by: his parent Irene S. Purnell (Umberger); his spouse Judith A. Purnell (Coppersmith); his daughters, Susan Swope of Florida and Judy Purnell of Mount Joy; his stepchildren, Michael Parmer of Lancaster and Kimberly Parmer of Lancaster; and his brother Russell Purnell.
