He was predeceased by: his brother Jim Gonzales; and his parents, Harold Gonzales and Virginia Gonzales (Hoagland). He is survived by: his wife Susan Gonzales (Mihok); his children, Steven Gonzales and Laura Gonzales; his nieces, Melissa, Jenna and Kristina Gonzales; and his sister-in-law Patricia Mihok.

“I believe Warren and I were first best friends. We played together as kids, and we played together as young men. In the photo, that's Warren on the left. He was first to arrive at my 9th Birthday party, August of '63. We did many things together and we grew a great deal over those years, both physically and mentally. Warren was always finding new people to befriend. He made friends everywhere he went. He will be greatly missed.”
