He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl E. Messinger and Florence Messinger (Werkheiser); his spouse Pauline Messinger (Weidman); his son David Messinger; and his sisters, Vivian Frutchey, Elsie Houck, Arlene Messinger and Gladys Flory.
He is survived by: his former wife Shirley Messinger (Hess); his daughter Rory Messinger; his stepdaughter Janice Bunnell; his sister Beatrice Daniel; his stepgranddaughter Tammy Fish; and his stepgreat-grandchildren, Austin and Angela. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
