Lee E. Fanning Obituary
Lee E. Fanning, 78, of Moshannon, was surrounded by his family when he passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024, at the Ridgeview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Curwensville. Born on December 5, 1945, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Thomas G. and Bernice L. (Johnstonbaugh) Fanning. On November 29, 1969, in Moshannon, he married Patricia A. Bisel. Patricia passed away on November 12, 2020.
Lee was a 1963 graduate of Bald Eagle Area High School. He enlisted in the Army National Guard right after high school and received his honorable discharge on June 11, 1969. He received the Sharpshooter Rifle M14 & Rifle Cal. .30 M1, Marksman Badge Pistol Cal. .45, Gen T.J. Stewart Medal Go 17 HQ 104-Armed Cav., Pennsylvania Service Ribbon Go 10 Tag PA for his years of service.
Lee was affiliated with the Mountain Top Alliance Church in Snow Shoe. He was a heavy equipment operator for Glenn O. Hawbaker Construction for many years, retiring on October 21, 2014.
Lee enjoyed watching old western movies on TV, especially John Wayne movies. He was great at fixing lawn mowers and liked to mow his extensive yard.
Lee is survived by one brother, James T. Fanning and his wife, Marilyn, of Karthaus and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents and wife, Lee was preceded in death by four brothers: Gaylenn T. Fanning, Marvin E. Fanning, Clifton W. "Skip" Becker, and W. Von "Donnie" Fanning, and by one sister, Maxine L. Preslovich.
A public viewing will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024, from 11am-12noon followed by the funeral service at 12noon at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Snow Shoe. Burial will be at Askey Cemetery, Snow Shoe Twp., with full military honors accorded.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Clearfield County SPCA, 275 21st St., Clearfield, PA 16830.
