He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Ives and Margaret Smith (Stone); his wife Ann Marie Smith; and his brother Fredrick S. Smith. He is survived by: his children, Marjorie Michels (Curt) and Gail Henry (Michael); and his grandsons, David L. Spence, Michael S. Henry, Jr., James R. Michels and John C. Michels.
