He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold J. Wertz and Edith Wertz (Benfer); and his brothers, Harold J. Wertz and F. LaRue Wertz. He is survived by: his wife Helen J. (Lasco); and his children, Brad M. Wertz and Susan K. Wertz.
