He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Kauffman and Margaretta Kauffman (Reed); his wife Leah Jean Kauffman (Bumbaugh); his son Richard L. Kauffman, Jr.; and his siblings, Betty Pentz and Robert Kauffman, Jr..
He is survived by: his daughter-in-law Lauren M. Kauffman of Mont Alto; his grandchildren, Ashley Kauffman of Mont Alto, Christopher Bailey of Waynesboro, PA and James Bailey of Omaha, NE; his sister Patricia Miller of Mont Alto; and his great-niece Rachel Baker of Mont Alto. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
