He was predeceased by: his stepchild Shelley Rae Beeman; his former wife Elizabeth Cowen (Hunziker); his parents, John E. Cowen, and Viola Grace Cowen, Sr. (Zeigler); and his brother William George Cowen, III (Susan).
He is survived by: his wife Sharon L. Cowen; his stepdaughter Amy Leigh Kratzer; his nephew Tommy Tarter (Brook); his grandchildren, Caleb Beeman, Alyssa Dallaba (Paul), Sarah Beeman, Hannah Morales (Seth) and Hope Dean; his great grandchildren, Eloise Beeman and Zoey Dallaba; his brothers, David Cowen (Karen) and Barry Cowen (Georgina); and his nieces, Beth Albitz and Gigi Snodgrass (Jeff).
