He was predeceased by: his son Mark Sutherland; and his siblings, Francis Sutherland and Phyllis Koehler. He is survived by: his parents, Joseph Sutherland and Florence Schuller Sutherland; his wife Betty J. Walters Sutherland; his sons, Gery Sutherland (Janice) and Scott Sutherland (Patricia); his daughter-in-law Vicki Sutherland of Monongahela; his grandchildren, Gery Sutherland, Jr. (Veronica), Heather Popich (Andrew), Cory Sutherland, Tracy Benney (Aaron) and Carl Sutherland; and his brother-in-law Herbert "Hobie" Koehler of Mount Pleasant. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
