He was predeceased by: his parents, Michael Canestrale and Liberia Canestrale (Lombardo); his wife Catherine Canestrale (Spence); his stepdaughters, Mary Frances Kyle (Evans) and Patricia Swalin (Evans); and his siblings, Matthew Canestrale, Angeline Matthews, Vinnie Bell, Anna Singel and Theresa Peters.

He is survived by: his children, Wanda Lee Gaspich (John) of Monessen, Michelle Turkovich (Martin) of Monessen and Michael Canestrale (Robin) of Monessen; his stepgrandson David Kyle of Monessen; and his sister Mary Bednar of Amherst, OH. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Everyone attending the viewing and funeral are required to wear a mask and social distance.
