He was predeceased by: his wife Marguerite L. Showalter (Wagner); his parents, Norman S. Showalter and Lillian L. Showalter (Gedman); and his brothers, Robert F. Showalter and Marshall R. Showalter.
He is survived by: his son Greg Showalter (Anita); his stepdaughter Debra Wildermuth (Steve); his children, Cindy DeBellis (Jim) and Jim Showalter (Sherry); and his grandchildren, Jeffrey Showalter (Abbey), Matthew Showalter (Brooke), Curtis Showalter (Kelsey), Amanda Wildermuth, Daniel Wildermuth (Brittany), Shannon Kohl (Eric) and Jesse Weaver. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren.
