He was predeceased by: his wife Darlene E. Shirk (Trostle); his parents, David M. Shirk Sr. and Bertha Shirk (Wiker); his siblings, George W., Robert, Ruth Reifsnyder and Shirley Dull; and his stepson Rodger Stanley.
He is survived by: his stepchildren, Dawn Stanley and Ronald Stanley (Brenda Stanley); his grandchildren, Timothy Stanley (Jennifer), Jamie Burns (Chad), Tiffany James, Keith Stanley and Amanda Powell; his great grandchildren, Alexia Knapp, Jordan Burns, Dylan Burns, Alexander James, Thomas James, Keith Stanley and Joseph Stanley; his sister Susan Stauffer (Joseph); and his sisters-in-law, Linda Shirk and Paula Shirk.
