He was predeceased by: his parents, John Sternick and Antonina Sternick; his wife Irene Polinsky; and his son John David. He is survived by: his children, Joan Weiderhold (Daniel) and Christopher Sternick (Melissa); his daughter-in-law Jean; his grandchildren, Adam Weiderhold, Dana Allaband, Mykaihla Sternick, Jennifer Sternick, Julie Sternick and Jaclyn Sternick; and his sister Josephine Laychock. He is also survived by 5 great grandchildren.
