He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Helen R. Walter (Mull) of Mifflinburg and Homer J. Walter; his spouse Shonny Lynn Shnyder; his brothers, Agway and Winfield; his children, David E. Walter, Jr., Stacy R. (Pete Crabb), Kimberly A. (Chad R. Fisher) and Lindsay A. Zevan; his siblings, Ricky L. Walter, Linda Wehr, Dorry Heiges and Julie Whalen; his grandchildren, Tiana (Andy Fisher), Kelcie Crabb, Owen (Kaitlyn Walter), Ethan Zevan, Olivia Walter, Grady Fisher, Kale Folk and Rhylan Fisher; his great grandchildren, Nolan and Noah Fisher; and his sister Kathy Bennett. He was also cherished by his kids, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
