He was predeceased by: his parents, Effie Welshans and Eugene Spong; his stepfathers, Marty Johnson and Barry Welshans; his daughter Brenda; and his brother Dale Johnson.
He is survived by: his wife Margaret "Peg"; his children, Sherry D'Alessandro (Joe Posada) of Mill Hall and Scot Johnson (Terry Tibbens) of Linden; his stepdaughters, Rhonda Bird (Roger) of Bellefonte and Tracy Smith (Robert) of Lock Haven; his grandchildren, Adria Wilson (Tim), Billy Rickard (Kira), Connor Schrecongost (Maddie), Courtney Kurtz (Dale), Tyler Dauberman, Jacob and Logan Smith; and his great grandchildren, Ceria D'Alessandro and Miles Rickard.
