He was predeceased by: his parents, Alexander Bone and Jane Bone (Muir); and his sister Frances Bone. He is survived by: his wife Jo-Ann Bone; his children, Dawn Hallman and Russell Donnelly, Jr.; and his grandchildren, Harley-Ann, Nicholas and Robyn. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
