Reed J. Meeker Obituary
Reed J. Meeker, 84, of Runville, passed away suddenly at his home on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. Born on October 8, 1939, in Moshannon, he was the son of the late Harry and Beatrice (Maines) Meeker. On June 19, 1959, in Julian, he married the love of his life, Anna G. Bechdel. Anna survives at their home.
Reed attended the Snow Shoe High School. He and his brother, Bruce, had a logging business for many years before Reed went to work for Davidson Brothers Trucking Co. as a mechanic. He retired after 39 years of service.
Reed had many hobbies and interests. Far too many to mention them all, but some of his favorites were hunting, fishing, camping, cutting firewood and being outdoors. He enjoyed antiquing and auctions. He found many treasures that he would share with his friends and family. He would take some of those treasures and sell them at the market. While at the market, if he saw a little child that just "needed" a special toy, he didn't not hesitate in giving it to them. Through all his activities, he thoroughly enjoyed bullshitting with everyone that would bullshit back.
Reed has a special relationship with his Lord and Savior. He attended the Hanna Church in Port Matilda and would read his Bible daily. Family was very important to Reed, and he loved his family more than life itself.
Reed is survived by his wife; one son, Marvin L. Meeker and his wife, Tina, of Moshannon and three daughters: Nadine A. Meeker and her fiancé, Barry Johns, of Houtzdale, Lisa M Stoner and her husband, Tom, of Centre Hall, and Lyn Timblin and her husband, Shawn, of Philipsburg. He is also survived by one sister, Donna Hatch of Bellefonte, 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and by his best friend, Bo King.
Along with his parents, Reed was preceded in death by two sons: Baby Meeker and Reed E. Meeker Sr, and one brother, Bruce Meeker.
There will be a public visitation on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, 201 Spring St. Milesburg.
