He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard J. Hicks and Edna G. Hicks (Kelley); his siblings, Myron Hicks, Jane Corman, Donald Hicks, Ada Catherman and Richard Hicks; and his son-in-law Dan Hommel.
He is survived by: his wife Estella J. Hicks (Leathers); his children, Susan Thomas (Paul) of Northeast, MD, Joseph D. Hicks, Jr. (Maxine) of Bridgeport, OH, Pam Hommel of Fawn Grove, PA and Yvonne Harmon (Doug) of Greenfield, OH; and his sister Anna Powers of Oklahoma City, OK. He is also survived by his 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
