He was predeceased by: his parents, Ora Whipple and Hilda Whipple (Garris); his sister Esther; and his brothers-in-law, Marcus Frisbie and Robert Roof.
He is survived by: his wife Cathy D. Whipple (Springer); his children, David R. II, Kari Whipple and Stacey D. Whipple (Lyle Garrity); his granddaughter Meghan; his great grandchildren, Olyviah, Owen, Carson and Leela; his siblings, Ora "Sonny" Whipple (Dorie), Joanne Bohlar (Fred), Richard Whipple (Marlena) and Mary Jane Roof; and his close friends, Charles, Evelyn "Iffie" Sandt and Jerry Goodrich. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews.
