He was predeceased by: his parents, James Thornton, Sr. and Katie Holmes (Lane). He is survived by: his wife Malinda (Daniels); his children, James Thornton, III, Daryl Thornton, Jamall Thornton, Jaheem Thornton and Katrina Waddington; and his siblings, Terrance Holmes, Steven Holmes, Peter Holmes, Tina Broddnax (Vincent), Kathy Green and Margaret Jones (Paul). He is also survived by seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in James's name to Grace & Mercy Church.
