He was predeceased by: his parents, Homer Portman and Margreth Portman; and his siblings, William K. Portman and Mary Portman Johnson. He is survived by: his wife Freda Mack Portman; his daughters, Margeret Byrant and Linda Baska; his grandchildren, Alan, Dave Bryant and Andrea Betts Fossum; and his great grandchildren, Hali, Damon Bryant, Liv, Espen Bryant, Isabella, Collin and Sophia Fossum.
