He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin Schaeffer and Emma Koons (Shafner); his former wife Dorothy Schaeffer (Imes); his wife Vera Schaeffer (Imes); his granddaughter Hope Schaeffer; his siblings, John, Martin, Jr., Bernice Miller and Anna Loncar; and his stepfather Donald Koons.
He is survived by: his sons, Ronald E. Schaeffer (Melissa) and Kenneth A. Schaeffer (Bonny); and his stepdaughters, Barbie Junker, Debbie Gilbert (Jerry) and Vera Ellen Brown (Rick). He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
