He was predeceased by: his parent Vera Barton (Heigel); and his wife Nancy R. Barton (Boyer). He is survived by: his children, Timothy Barton (Peggy) of Chambersburg, Michael Barton (Alma) of Elizabethtown, Brian Barton (Barb) of Lemoyne, Randall Lehman of Annville, Matthew "Rusty" Barton of Elizabethtown and Dawn Bond (David) of Bernville; his sister Bette Robinson; and his daughters, Kayla and Karlie. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.
