He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert P. Schmeltzer, Sr. and Anna Marie Abel Schmeltzer. He is survived by: his wife Judith M. Schmeltzer (Coates); and his sister Anna M. Sullivan (Schmeltzer) of Middletown. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, 280 North Race Street, Middletown, PA 17057 or the American Lung Association 3001 Gettysburg Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
