He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Vernon Newman and Ruth Schenck Newman Wible; his stepfather Willard Wible; his siblings, Frank Newman, Willis Wible, Roy Newman and Alice Sheeder; and his grandsons, Eli Newman and Jesse Deatrich.

He is survived by: his wife Ellen Mae Stine Deatrich; his half-brother Rodney Wible (Martha); his sister Laura June Martz; his sons, Kevin, David (Heidi) and Brock (Shanna); his stepchildren, William Deatrich, Michael Deatrich (Tammy), Debbie Matherly (David) and Julie Piper (John); and his grandchildren, Alicia Whitehill, Jessa Creager, Nicholas Newman, Kelsi Rae Newman, Daniel Deatrich, Brett Deatrich, Catherine Deatrich, Emily Deatrich, Carl Rhinehart, Shelby Golden, Kaysi Compton, Hannah Piper and Michaela Rae Piper.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Antietam Humane Society or Mount Tabor Brethren in Christ Church, Mercersburg.
