Joseph P. Flynn Obituary
Joseph P. Flynn, age 60, of Media, Pennsylvania, passed away on Thursday, June 3rd surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Beth Sullivan Flynn, adoring father of Emily, Mallory, and Joseph, and devoted grandpop of JoJo Flynn. Joseph was one of 12 children born to Charles and Vera McGlinn Flynn. When his illness prevented him from tending to his needs, Joe was lovingly cared for by his sisters Vera (Joe) Dolan, Marie (Clem) Calabrese, Peg Flynn, Betty Kral, Helene McGinnis and Clare Palazzo, and his brothers Charlie (Thelma), Jim (Jeannie), and Patrick (Theresa) as well as his nephew Ian Kral.
Joe was predeceased by his mother and father and by his sisters Jean Flynn and Joan Flynn Black. Joe graduated from St. James High School and from St. Joseph's University, where he received special recognition with the Joseph W. Hickey Award for Achievement in Undergraduate Studies and Exemplifying the Tenets of Jesuit Philosophy.
He was a successful business owner and salesman of stockroom shelving for retail locations across the country and across the world. His clients included Abercrombie & Fitch, Aeropostale, Anthropology, Reebok, Urban Outfitters and many others. Always a researcher, he later pursued an interest in solar energy and hydroponic shelving for the medical cannabis industry.
Joe himself had numerous nicknames and he "christened" his family and friends with many others. You needed a cast list to determine who was who among his many friends. Always generous and loyal, he continued to acknowledge and maintain friendships with those who helped him along the way. He had a fabulous sense of humor, loved being in the spotlight, and regaled all with his many amusing stories.
Joe was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by the many family and friends who were his loyal companions throughout his life. Visitation: Thursday, June 10, 2021 from 11:30am-12:30 pm at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 2400 N. Providence Rd., Media, PA 19063. Mass of Resurrection: Thursday, June 10, 2021 at 12:30 pm at St. Mary Magdalen Church.
