Evan Charles Frey Obituary
Evan Charles Frey, cherished husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away at the age of 87 on December 7, 2024, in Media, PA due to complications from an infection. Born on May 19, 1937, in Philadelphia, Evan lived a life marked by love, hard work, and a remarkable ability to meet and encourage people.
Evan was an alumnus of Dickinson College where he majored in English. He was Army ROTC, a member of the Pershing Rifles and Kappa Sigma, and served three years in the military. He married his college sweetheart Chris in 1960.
After working at a bank, he settled into finance and development, where he made significant contributions at Dickinson College, Eastern University, and Williamson College of the Trades.
In Evan’s spare time, he loved vacationing in Maine, being there two weeks every summer with his extended family for 50 years. He enjoyed gardening, especially pruning and planting trees and roses. He loved good food, Philadelphia, trains (both toy and transport), and had a growing collection of teddy bears.
Evan is survived by his loving wife Chris, and their three daughters, Janet Hermans (Hans), Leslie Miller (Jay), and Debbie Salas (Ray). He was an enthusiastic grandfather to seven grandchildren: Hans Hermans (1991), Leslie Elaine Jones (1993), Evan Hermans (1995), Caleb Miller (1999), David Miller (2000), Elijah Salas (2006), and Jude Salas (2011).
Known for his natural ability to connect with people, Evan was a friend to many. Whether he was going out to eat with one of his daughters or grandkids, meeting one-on-one with a friend, or bringing men together for donuts and Bible study, his presence and leadership were a source of joy.
He was a humble and grateful man who trusted in Jesus all his life. A celebration of life service will be held in his honor at Lima Estates in Media on December 28, 2024, at 11 a.m.
