She is survived by: her husband James Lappen; her grandchildren, Timothy Shannon, Henry Shannon and Caroline Boswell; her stepdaughters, Linda Dykes, Carol Lappen and Elizabeth Layfield; and her stepgrandchildren, Ryan Burkett, Natalie Flynn and Jacob Layfield. She is also survived by seven step-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Barbara's memory to the Broad Street Menders program in center city Philadelphia which mends clothes for the homeless at Broad Street Ministries.
