It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Linda Mae Thornton (Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania), born in Burnt Cabins, Pennsylvania, who passed away on September 3, 2023, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Samuel Cowan and Dorothy Cowan (Stinson); her husband L. Robert Thornton; her children, Ty Robert Thornton of Birmingham, Marsha Cobb (Thornton), Joe of Davison, Faith Perkins (Thornton), Bob of Asheville and Jonathan Thornton of Dillsburg; her grandchildren, Rachel Cobb of Greenville, Rebekah Cobb of Greenville, Christopher and Samuel Perkins of Asheville; and her siblings, Joyce Cowan Marshall of New Cumberland, Samuel Richard Cowan and Norma Jean Shoppel (Cowan).
The family would like to express its particular thanks to Joyce Marshall for her loving and constant support for her sister, Linda, particularly during the unique challenges of the pandemic and Linda's final two years in long-term care.
