He was predeceased by: his mother Carolyn Makepeace (Sterner); and his mother-in-law A. Kathryn Thayer. He is survived by: his father Chester W. Makepeace (Carolyn) of Grove City; his wife Julie Thayer; his children, Andrew W. Makepeace (Laura) of Meadville, Ryan A. Makepeace (Cassie) of Meadville and Dr. Joshua A. Makepeace; his siblings, Donna Stanton of Harrisville, Debra Trapasso (John) of Greensburg and Donald R. Makepeace of Grove City; and his father-in-law David E. Thayer of Meadville. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Bill's honor to Hospice of Crawford County, 766 Liberty St. or Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Institute 16792 Conneaut Lake Road both of Meadville, PA 16335.
