He was predeceased by: his father Joseph D. Barnes; and his siblings, Peggy Larsen and Jim "JB" Barnes. He is survived by: his mother Shirley Barnes (Bullers); and his brothers, Doug Barnes (Carrie) of Meadville and Tom Barnes (Linda) of Meadville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Family Home Health, Three Rivers Hospice, 300 Oxford Dr., Suite 200, Monroeville, PA 15146.
