He was predeceased by: his parents, John Oliver Sr. and Catherine Adams (Myers); his son Donald Adams; his brother Carl Adams; his nephew John E. Stone Jr.; and his granddaughter Geneva Martin.

He is survived by: his wife Arlene Shoenberger; his children, Cindy Martin (George), Christine Adams, John Oliver Adams III (Kelly) of Palmyra, PA, David Adams and Joseph Adams (Jen) of Carlisle, PA; his grandchildren, Mackenzie, Ryan, Tommy, Toniele, Eric, Daniel, Shane, Tara, Jennifer, Matthew, Jonathan, Robert, Nethanel and Justine; and his siblings, Virginia Stone of Carlisle, PA and Ronald Adams of Plainfield, PA.. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren.
