He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles J. Roae and Betty Roae (Mulvey). He is survived by: his wife Kathie; and his daughter Shannon Roae.

He raised funds for the National Foundation, Chairman of the Elks National Memorial Restoration in Chicago, he was very involved in the Elks scholarship programs and he also instituted the Elks Flag Retirement Ceremony in Meadville.
