He was predeceased by: his parents, John Joseph and Lillian Barney; his grandson Pierce Jackson; his nephew Kaleb Sanford; his brother Jack Barney; and his nephew Schnebelen (Mimi Barney).

He is survived by: his wife Jenny Moyer; his children, Suzanne Jackson (Michael), Nancy Williams and Richard Barney (Kristie); his son-in-law David Williams; his grandchildren, Kaity Jackson, Kaylee Williams, Kelsey Williams, Colin Williams, Caden Williams and Dillon Barney; his sister Mary Schnebelen; his brother-in-law David Moyer (Deda); his niece Lindsey Sandford (Kurt); his great-niece Peyton; his great-nephews, Bryce and Ethan; and his nephew Adam Blank. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and very close friends.
