It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James William Lyle Sr. of McMurray, Pennsylvania, who passed away on January 4, 2025, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, William Lyle and Mathilda Lyle; and his nephew Eric Hoffmann. He is survived by: his wife Nancy Hoffmann; his children, James W. Lyle Jr. (Sue), David Lyle (Lori), Suzie Sodini (Steve) and Cyndi Richter (Glenn); his grandchildren, Heather Hanbury (Jason), Joe Lyle (Cayla), Maria Sanders (Joshua), Anna, Ben, Andrew (Miranda), Theresa, Angela, Elizabeth, John Paul, Clare Lyle, Alex, Sara, Wyatt Sodini, Elijah, Levi and Gabriel Richter; his great grandchildren, Caleb Hanbury and Leo Lyle; his sister Janice Meade (Ernie); his sister-in-law Jane (late Don Hoffmann); his nephews, Donnie Hoffmann (Kelly) and Darren Meade (Heidi); his niece Alissa Moraski (Brett); and his caregivers, Sherry, Laurel, Tracie, Ray and Martina.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 8th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Peters Township Funeral Home (2828 Washington Rd, Canonsburg, PA 15317). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the St. Thomas More Church (126 Fort Couch Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15241).

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to The Michael J. Fox Foundation (give.michaeljfox.org) which supports Parkinson Research.
