Janice Lynn Holmes Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of The Reverend Dr Janice Lynn Holmes (McKeesport, Pennsylvania), who passed away on January 7, 2021, at the age of 65, leaving to mourn family and friends.
Janice Lynn Holmes, passed peacefully on January 7, 2021 at UPMC McKeesport Hospital. Beloved daughter of the late Clarence Wendell and Bessie Marie Grinage Holmes, born January 14, 1955. Janice obtained an Masters in Nursing, PHD in Education, and PhD, ABD in Public Health from the University of Pittsburgh. She received the Master’s in Divinity and a Community Service Award from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. Janice pastored Olivet Presbyterian Church in West Elizabeth, PA. She was on faculty at IUP and the Univ. of Pittsburgh totaling 37 years. She sang with the Mon Yough Chorale, was learning cello, and did beautiful stitchery. Janice is survived by her sister Linda J. Holmes, aunts, cousins, colleagues, two cats, and friends. Family and friends were received Wednesday, January 13th, 10am-noon at Robert A. Waters Funeral Home, 2326 Jenny Lind Street, McKeesport, PA. Graveside service followed at Monongahela Cemetery.
