He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Kmetz of Munhall and Eleanor Kmetz (Novak) of Duquesne; his wife Patricia A. Kmetz (Keefer); his grandson Nicholas Anderson; his brother Richard Kmetz; his daughter-in-law Sharon Kmetz; and his mother-in-law Estelle Raible Keefer.
He is survived by: his children, Edward Kmetz of McKeesport, Hope Kmetz of Wilmerding, Lisa Anderson (Jon Sylvander) of Irwin and Amy Kmetz (Jay Stevenson) of North Versailles; his grandchildren, Dawn Merlin (Jason), Jessica Eller (Brandon), Kasey Moon (Jon), Kori Kmetz, Kayle Stevenson, Taylor Stevenson and Jayson Pozzuto; and his nephew Anthony "TJ" Kmetz. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren.
