She was predeceased by: her parents, Sophie Tolufski Kenosky and Ignatz Szymborski; her husband Fred Surdyn; her son Richard H. VanDyke; and her brothers, Eugene and Edward Szymborski.
She is survived by: her sons, Daniel VanDyke (Christine) and James (Jennie Palermo); her grandchildren, Jason VanDyke (Elijah), Matthew VanDyke (Taylor) and Emilie Bielawa (Matt); her great grandchild Violet; her daughter-in-law Nadine Dietrich VanDyke; and her sister-in-law Ruth Szymborski. She is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
