He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Schmac and Julia Gema Schmac; and his brothers, Frank Schmac and Don Schmac. He is survived by: his wife Peg; his children, Kenneth Schmac (Mona), Deanna and Lisa Olinger (Jon); and his grandchildren, Kenneth Schmac (Rachel), Christina Schmac, Lynn Fandray (Greg), Kristen Woodring, Michael Godfrey, Aleisa Hans and Ryan Hans (Morgan).
